Enhancing the Syracuse Orange’s training facilities
Named for NBA star Carmelo K. Anthony, who played for the Syracuse Orange and provided the initial donation for construction, this facility provides both a learning and training center that helps attract and retain top athletes. The building includes two NCAA regulation-size basketball courts, strength and conditioning rooms, hydrotherapy pools, classroom space, a video room, offices for coaching staff, and locker rooms for the men’s and women’s teams.

The location of the “Melo Center,” built as part of a master plan to reorganize and modernize the entire Lampe Athletic Complex, was carefully sited on axis with the Manley Field House, the university’s multi-purpose arena. Tucked into a landscape that rises behind the building to a wooded high point, the low-rise structure features a striking entrance that glows in the hue of the team’s signature color at night.
The building’s entrance doubles as the Syracuse Basketball Hall of Fame—a spacious and light-filled trophy hall for the university’s basketball program. Lined with aluminum and glass trophy cases, large graphic banners, and projected displays, the space allows screened views into the practice courts.
