The Rocky Mountain Regional Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado, expands the footprint of the Veterans Affairs Medical System in the state, enabling the federal agency to provide excellent healthcare to the region’s growing population of veterans. The 1.2-million-square-foot hospital consists of eight buildings and three parking structures, connected by a curved central concourse, running the length of the campus.

The center includes diagnostic and treatment facilities, ambulatory care clinics, laboratories, and inpatient beds in acute care, critical care, mental health, rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, and long-term care. Sustainability is central to the project, which is targeting LEED® Silver certification. Notable features include photovoltaic panels, earth tubes, and solar concentrators, which contribute to reduced energy usage and costs across the campus.
