Anchoring Beijing’s burgeoning new Dawangjing business district, the recently completed Beijing Greenland Center is situated on the city’s northeast side, equidistant from Beijing’s bustling core and the Beijing Capital International Airport. Sustainable, elegant, and efficient, the project includes 173,000 square meters of workspace and retail.
The 260-meter-tall, 55-story tower is clad in an intricate, trapezoidal glass curtain that creates a woven texture of light and shadow. The repeating glass modules undulate, providing self-shading that improves the building’s environmental performance.
A retail building flanks the tower, featuring a central atrium and large, rectilinear, translucent-glass panels that fill the space with natural light. Layers of planting zones form calming and welcoming spaces for interaction around the center, with a variety of plant species that will produce a range of color and texture throughout the seasons.
An important part of the Dawangjing master plan, the center strengthens the pedestrian environment and bolsters the district’s office and retail offerings, elevating the sustainability and stature of this emerging, world-class district.
