The 100 West Walnut master plan provides a modern, mixed-use extension of historic Old Pasadena in Southern California. The project features strong visual and physical connections to the surrounding urban context, with respect to the city’s building scale, material palette, pedestrian networks, and view corridors.
The 6.4-acre site includes 400 residential units, 210,000 square feet of commercial office space, and 17,500 square feet of retail and dining, each with a distinct exterior expression. The project also contains three levels of below-grade parking. The plan replaces existing surface parking lots that surround a large corporate headquarters located on West Walnut Street.
Shaded arcades, networked alleyways, paseos, and residential stoops connect the mixed-use development with the existing urban fabric, while interior landscaped plazas, gardens, and pathways create a campus-like environment with public gathering space.
SOM is also designing 10 West Walnut, a five-story, 210,000-square-foot, Class-A creative office complex located in the larger site of 100 West Walnut.
