Thomas Behr promotes SOM’s longstanding tradition of sustainable design in architecture and planning. He believes that architects have a social, environmental, and economic responsibility. Understanding these responsibilities allows him to unlock the design opportunities available to the designer, developer, and client to increase the true value of a project.
Thomas is a Managing Partner in SOM’s London office, having relocated from New York in 2016 to take up the role. He joined the firm in 2000 as an architectural designer and became a project manager in 2004. During this time, he has worked on a diverse range of international projects including master plans, commercial buildings, mixed-use developments, educational, sports, and hospitality schemes in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, India, and the United States. After predominantly working on European and Middle East projects during his time in New York, Thomas shifted his focus to the UK and continental Europe, overseeing and managing SOM’s work in the region.
