William F. Baker Elected to the Royal Academy of Engineering

William F. Baker, SOM Structural and Civil Engineering Partner, has been elected an International Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, the United Kingdom’s preeminent national academy for the advancement of engineering. Election to the Academy is by invitation only. All new Fellows have been invited to join the Fellowship in recognition of their outstanding and continuing contributions to engineering.

On naming Baker as a Fellow, the Royal Academy of Engineering stated, “Bill Baker is widely known for his outstanding contribution to structural engineering and for creating some of the world’s most notable buildings. With a career already distinguished by remarkable engineering achievements, his design for the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, has brought worldwide acclaim.”

Baker will be formally admitted into the Fellowship on November 17, 2014.
