The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Campus Instructional Facility (CIF) recently received the U.S. Green Building Council’s 2024 Local Market Leadership Award in Illinois for Design + Construction, an award that recognizes projects, people, and partners for their excellence in creating better buildings and improving the lives of all in their local communities. Designed as a multi-story center for hands-on learning to meet the changing needs of its occupants, the CIF is one of the most sustainable buildings on campus, holding LEED Platinum and LEED Zero Energy certifications.

Winners were announced during the USGBC Chapter – Illinois Green Alliance’s annual meeting in Chicago earlier this month. Sustainable engineering Principal Luke Leung attended the meeting to accept the award, along with Chris Dillion of Campbell Coyle, Kerry Dickson of Vermillion Development, and representatives from the University.
