Two SOM Projects Win Society of American Registered Architects National Design Awards

Two SOM projects were recognized in the 2019 Society of American Registered Architects (SARA) National Design Awards. The projects—the University of Connecticut Innovation Partnership Building, and the Cornell Tech Campus Framework Plan and Phase I Site Development—each won an award of honor.

The Innovation Partnership Building is the first building completed in the University of Connecticut’s new Technology Park. Designed to bridge the gap between industry and academia, it is a new research hub where startups and companies can work side-by-side with students and faculty.

The Cornell Tech Campus Framework Plan and Phase I Site Development is an ambitious project that brings an open, collaborative applied science campus to Roosevelt Island in New York City. Free of academic departments, the plan is designed to foster interaction and creativity. With the first phase completed in 2017, the campus will continue to expand until it reaches 2 million gross square feet. Highly adaptable, the master plan will accommodate each new generation of buildings.
