The annual Muse Design Awards program celebrates outstanding showcases of architectural, interior, product, and conceptual design. This year, three SOM projects were recognized in their respective sub-categories for interior design.
The renovation and consolidation of Baltimore Sun‘s printing facilities, offices and newsroom into a multifunctional and collaborative work environment received a Platinum Award from the program.
The renovation of architect and former SOM design partner Walter Netsch’s Chicago home for its new owners earned Netsch House a Gold Award. SOM carefully preserved and adapted the structure to maintain its original spirit, while simultaneously bringing in contemporary art, appliances, material finishes, and more flexible uses of space to better suit the needs of the new residents.
800 W Fulton, a creative mixed-used office project currently under construction in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood, also received a Gold Award. 800 W Fulton will feature flexible work and amenity spaces for tenants, as well as generous, landscaped outdoor spaces with native planting and trees.
