In its Sunday edition, The Boston Globe gave the John A. Volpe National Transportation Systems Center a glowing review. Describing the project as “government building at its best,” journalist James McCown commended the project’s grand lobby, its ability to foster interaction, and its new typeface—designed by SOM’s branding studio to convey a sense of motion—as some of the hallmarks of this new research center for the U.S. Department of Transportation.
