On Thursday, December 8th, the SOM Women’s Initiative hosted a conversation at the New York office with Barnard College President Debora Spar. In conversation with SOM Associate Director Meredith Bostwick-Lorenzo Eiroa, Spar discussed her background and work at Barnard. She also spoke about the collaborative design process for the Teaching and Learning Center, a new building on the New York City campus that will become a hub of academic and intellectual life.
Afterwards, members of the SOM team from all stages of the Teaching and Learning Center project gave short presentations about their contributions to the new building, which is scheduled for completion in 2018.
The SOM Women’s Initiative (SOMWI) was established in 2011 to cultivate and promote the continued development and success of women at SOM and within the design disciplines. SOMWI aims to encourage a sense of community and professional support within the firm through various mentoring programs, workshops, and internal networks.
