SOM has won two Marketing Communication Awards from the New York chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS). The firm won Best Website for the new SOM.com and Best Marketing Campaign for the publication, SOM in New York City: A Self-Guided Tour Book. The firm will be honored during a gala on June 5, 2014, in New York City.
The new SOM.com launched in February of this year. With its emphasis on easy navigation, impactful imagery, and a strong point of view, the website reinforces the firm’s brand identity and conveys its proven track record as one of the world’s preeminent architecture firms. SOM’s firmwide communications team conceived the website in collaboration with the New York-based graphic design firm, For Office Use Only. The developer was VSA Partners.
SOM in New York City: A Self-Guided Tour Book was created to offer SOM clients and visitors an easy-to-follow guide of the firm’s projects throughout the city. Developed by SOM’s marketing team, the fold-out, full-color booklet includes maps showing the location of 102 projects, along with brief project descriptions. The text is presented in English and Mandarin. Both engaging and informative, the booklet demonstrates SOM’s powerful influence on the city’s urban fabric, from the 1950s to present day.
The SMPS New York awards recognize exemplary achievements in marketing and communications by architecture, engineering, and construction firms in the New York metropolitan area. Established in 1984, the chapter has 250-plus members who collectively represent more than 220 firms, making it one of the largest chapters in the nation.
