On Saturday, April 16th, SOM hosted an open house in celebration of Chicago Architecture Foundation’s 50th anniversary. SOM exhibited never-before-seen archival material that traced SOM’s history over the past 80 years, highlighted public art projects in Chicago, and featured special projects with industry partners that innovated new technologies.
Philip Enquist, SOM Partner in Charge of Urban Design and Planning, participated in a panel discussion titled “50 Back/50 Forward: Reflections and Predictions from Chicago Designers,” alongside Lynn Osmond, President and CEO of the Chicago Architecture Foundation; James Goettsch, Chairman and CEO of Goettsch Partners; and Grace Kuklinski Rappe, Senior Vice President of VOA Associates Incorporated. The panelists reflected on Chicago’s recent past and shared their predictions about the future opportunities that can keep Chicago at the forefront of innovative design. More than 200 people attended the event.
