The Chicago office of SOM recently hosted a lecture by architecture critic and historian, Nina Rappaport, on the life and work of the late architectural photographer Ezra Stoller. Responsible for many iconic images of the modern built environment, Stoller photographed a large number of SOM projects, such as the Lever House in New York City and the John Hancock Center in Chicago. Known primarily for his architectural work, the lecture revealed his interest in other subjects such as industrial production.
Rappaport has organized multiple exhibitions of the photographer’s work and co-edited the book Ezra Stoller: Photographer with Erica Stoller, the photographer’s daughter. Currently, Rappaport serves as publications director at Yale School of Architecture. The lecture, part of the MAS Context 2015 Fall Talk series, was organized in collaboration with the Society of Architectural Historians and presented in partnership with the Chicago Architecture Biennial.
