In the article, Associate Principal Kevin Rodenkirch explains solutions for creating flexible space respective of the history and scale of the Fulton Market neighborhood—most notably, its signature X-braced facade. The innovative bracing system, an evolution of the structural engineering at 875 N. Michigan Avenue, is designed to bend and move as much as 16 inches from the facade to accommodate swings in Chicago’s climate.
