New York’s Pennsylvania Station is a dog of a transit hub. So, the city’s Municipal Art Society invited architectural firms to dream up ways to turn the station into a suitably grand gateway to the nation’s largest city. Four top firms submitted plans that are dramatic, exciting and sadly improbable. They all face two monumental hurdles.
