On Friday, May 10th, Peter Lee, Associate Director and senior structural engineer, will serve as a panelist at the National Council of Structural Engineers Association of Northern California’s (NCSEA) second annual SE3 Symposium in San Francisco. The event, titled #ChangeXSE3, aims to provide professionals in the AEC industry with an opportunity for discussion on engagement and equity in the structural engineering profession.
Since joining SOM in 1980, Lee has been a leader in the design and construction of performance-based, seismically isolated structures for a variety of projects. He has most recently collaborated on the San Diego Central Courthouse and the San Bernardino Justice Center.
During the closing session of the symposium, Lee and other panelists will discuss how to appreciate the value of a structural engineer while simultaneously creating an inclusive, values-based corporate culture. The session is titled “Securing Today’s Talent with Strategic Direction and Mindful Leadership.”
The 2019 symposium theme is “A Changing Workplace—How to Engage, Retain, and Secure the Future of Our Profession.” It is part of the SE3 Project, an initiative to improve engagement and equity in the structural engineering field.
