SOM’s master plan for the Knowledge and Innovation Community in Shanghai has been selected to receive an award for Best Mixed Use Development at MIPIM Asia 2016. The annual conference and awards program recognizes innovation and excellence in real estate development. A voting period open to the MIPIM Asia community will determine each award finalist’s ranking—bronze, silver, or gold—which will be presented at the MIPIM Asia Awards Gala Dinner on November 30th, 2016 in Hong Kong.
Knowledge and Innovation Community is a development designed to catalyze the transformation of Shanghai’s Yang Pu district from a dilapidated industrial zone into the center of a thriving, knowledge-based economy. The master plan leverages the district’s unique assets—10 universities and a historic stadium—and weaves together the isolated campuses into a walkable, connected community designed to attract top talent.
