Among a cohort of noteworthy projects on campuses across the country, two SOM projects have been recognized by the Society of College and University Planning Excellence Awards.
The Cornell Tech Campus Framework Plan, a 12.4-acre applied sciences university on Roosevelt Island in New York City, received an Honor Award in Landscape Architecture for Open Space Planning. SOM created the master plan and served as the master architect, and James Corner Field Operations served as the landscape architect and open space master planner.
The Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television – Howard B. Fitzpatrick Pavilion and Broccoli Theater received an Honorable Mention for Excellence in Architecture. The new School of Film and Television facility is equipped with state-of-the-art production studios, an 80-seat theater, and outdoor social spaces that are a boon to environmental and human health.
