Carlos Madrid III, a lead designer in SOM’s Los Angeles office, is invited to serve on the jury for the International Interior Design Association’s (IIDA) 44th annual Interior Design Competition. The program celebrates work that reflects new ideas and techniques in the design of interior spaces. Winners will be honored in June 2017 at the IIDA’s annual awards gala.
With more than 18 years of experience in architecture and interior design, Madrid’s portfolio is diverse in scale, scope, and location. He recently completed a major renovation of LAX’s Central Terminal Area, which included 91 iconic light poles, a mile-long light ribbon, and expansive new entry to Tom Bradley International Terminal. Current projects include a number of creative work environments for entertainment studios, a new film and television school for Loyola Marymount University, series of commercial repositioning projects for Brookfield and CBRE, and two major adaptive reuse projects in West Los Angeles.
