On July 7, 2015, Brian D. Griffith, SOM Sustainable Engineering Studio Team Leader, will participate in the Third International Symposium on Energy Challenges and Mechanics. As part of the Energy and Environment session in Aberdeen, Scotland, Griffith will discuss “A Net Zero Carbon High Rise Approach to London’s Housing Crisis.” His presentation will feature a prototype of a zero-impact, high-rise residential building developed by SOM. The solution considers factors such as unit type, owner demographics, local aesthetic, community connection, and socio-economic equity. Created for the city of London, the design concept remains highly transferable to a multitude of cities and environments. Griffith will also moderate a block of presenters earlier in the day.
