The Middle East is a region of rapid globalization with man-made islands and supertall towers. The contrast between the resilience of the area’s heritage and the overwhelming pace of change is creating an exceptional challenge for today’s architects and engineers, and producing exceedingly varied approaches to the region’s 21st century built environment. Several SOM-designed buildings will be included in this exhibition, including Al Hamra Tower, Bahrain Bay Master Plan, King Abdullah Financial District Conference Center and Kuwait University Student Activities and Athletic Facilities.
