Andrew Obendorf, Senior Designer at SOM, will speak at the 2016 WorldChicago Spring Diplomacy Luncheon on Wednesday, May 4th. There, he will discuss SOM’s vision for the future of urban living in Chicago through the lens of firm’s latest project, futureHOME 2050, a joint initiative between SOM, Walsh Construction, and the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago (MSI). Designed to anticipate and respond to potential housing needs for the middle of the 21st century, futureHOME 2050 proposes a viable off-grid alternative to current housing models in use across the United States.
Obendorf will be joined by Kurt Haunfelder, Vice President of Exhibits at MSI. futureHOME 2050 builds on the success of a 2008 prototype for sustainable housing that was developed through an MSI-led exploration of innovative housing models. Tickets are $125 for individuals and $75 for young professionals.
