

The Monterey Conference Center and University of California, Merced, Pavilion at Little Lake were both honored at the 2019 AIA San Francisco Design Awards.
The Monterey Conference Center was one of four projects to receive an Honor Award for Architecture—the most prestigious tier of the program’s accolades. Jurors appreciated that the original building was not demolished, but was redesigned with a restrained approach and respect for the surrounding community.
The University of California, Merced, Pavilion at Little Lake won a Citation Award for Architecture. In the award citation, they jury noted that the building appropriately complemented the campus environment through its openness and scale. The design of the dining hall is part of a larger campus development and expansion effort projected to be complete in 2020.
The AIA San Francisco Design Awards recognize outstanding work in the Bay Area. Submissions are evaluated on design quality, resolution of the program or idea, innovation, thoughtfulness, and technique.
