On Tuesday, July 18th, SOM’s James Mark will speak as part of a panel discussion hosted by the Chicago chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Chicago). Titled “Practice Building: Navigating a Transforming Industry,” the discussion will center on the challenges of growing a successful architectural practice. Panelists will shed light on how successful leading firms have continued to grow while the industry faces rapid and complex change.
A Strategic Management Leader based in SOM’s Chicago office, Mark will share insight on his role and experience leading large-scale architectural business development. In his position, Mark works closely with SOM clients in Chicago and across North America to assess their needs, articulate long-term goals, and develop strategies that respond to and anticipate capital projects. Using a holistic approach, Mark positions SOM as a resource for organizations as they seek advice and guidance on how to plan for future improvements. Joining Mark on the panel will also be industry leaders from Gensler, CannonDesign, and Wheeler Kearns Architects.
