SOM Design Director Michael Duncan and Associate Allison Albericci will present at the upcoming Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) 2017 Pacific Regional Conference. For this year’s event, themed “Game Changers: Leveraging the Unexpected and Making the Most of It,” Duncan and Albericci will speak about SOM’s work on the University of California, Merced campus.
The Merced 2020 Project expands UC Merced’s existing campus with the goal to increase the student population to 10,000 by the year 2020. With a scope that includes master planning, design, construction, financing, operation, and maintenance, the project comprises the development of creative mixed-use buildings, open space, infrastructure, landscaping, and recreational amenities. The Merced 2020 Project also supports the university’s goal to achieve “triple net zero:” zero net energy, zero landfill waste, and zero net greenhouse gas emissions. The campus expansion is being delivered as a public-private partnership through Plenary Partners Merced (PPM), with SOM as the master plan architect.
