On December 14th, 2016, SOM Design Partner Kent Jackson and members of the Manhattan Loft Gardens project team attended the topping-out ceremony in Stratford, London.
The completion of the Manhattan Loft Gardens structure marks an exceptional engineering achievement. The tower’s design features two sky gardens that carve out a space, removing half of the building’s columns at two points. The new 42-story building, which is slated to open in 2018, will contain 248 residential units featuring a unique interwoven configuration of single and loft-style apartments. The lower levels will house a luxury 150-room hotel.
According to Jackson, “Manhattan Loft Gardens is shaping the legacy of the Olympic Park and turning the area into a much more vibrant London district. It will not only lead the way for vertical high-rise living, but also create a new dialogue on how sustainable design can be brought into our cities and enrich their neighborhoods.”
