The corner of 14th Street and 5th Avenue was rebuilt from the ground up and in 2014, SOM’s (Skidmore, Owings and Merrill) new University Center opened. An impressive structure both inside and out, the building was also the result of extensive community consultations with faculty, staff and students. As a result, the Gold LEED certified building includes a concert hall, design studios, a library, classroom and meeting spaces and on the upper floors, a 600-bed residence tower.
