Supersized Sky Ride: Skidmore and Owings Debut at the 1933 Chicago Expo

At the Chicago World’s Fair of 1933, a pair of young architects, Nathaniel Owings and Louis Skidmore, realised a cable car of supersize proportions first proposed by engineer William L. Hamilton. As two thirds of the practice SOM, Owings and Skidmore later went on to realise a fair few of the tallest buildings in the world.
