The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) has named five SOM projects as 2021 Award of Excellence winners. One Manhattan West, 35 Hudson Yards, Al Hamra Tower, Stereoform Slab, and Lincoln Common all won awards in this year’s program.
One Manhattan West, a Class-A office tower and the largest building in the new Manhattan West Development, won in the Best Tall Building 300m-399m & Best Tall Office Building categories.
35 Hudson Yards, the 1,000-foot-tall, mixed use tower within New York City’s 28-acre Hudson Yards won two awards: the Best Tall Building Mixed-Use and the Structural Engineering Awards of Excellence.
Al Hamra Tower won a 10-Year Award of Excellence, which recognizes projects that have proven to benefit their cities one decade after their construction.
Stereoform Slab, a prototype for a future building system designed using advanced robotic fabrication techniques, won the Innovation Award of Excellence.
Lincoln Common, a 1.1 million-square-foot mixed-use development and vibrant new neighborhood center in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, won the Urban Habitat Award of Excellence.
