Tongzhou Cultural Park Master Plan has been honored with two AIA Hong Kong Merit Awards for Urban Design and Sustainability. Designed to celebrate the industrial past of this site at the edge of Beijing, the plan creates a rich pedestrian network with a series of social hubs and outdoor gathering spaces.
The master plan will also bring new life to an industrial complex once at the center of the community. Utilizing the original characteristics of the site, the modern revitalization builds upon the existing utilitarian layout and preserves key buildings that offer a sense of history.
The AIA Hong Kong Chapter’s annual Design Awards program recognizes excellence in architecture, interior design, urban design, and unbuilt works undertaken by AIA members.
