The transformative mixed-use project in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, Lincoln Common, has been selected as a winner of the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) 2024 Americas Awards for Excellence. Lincoln Common is one of just 10 developments across North America—and the only Chicago winner—that will compete alongside projects from the Europe and Asia Pacific regions in the 2024 ULI Global Awards for Excellence.
“Lincoln Common has done more than just create a new development; it has fundamentally transformed the area,” said Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce CEO Kim Schilf. Lincoln Common—a development by McCaffrey Development and Hines designed by SOM in collaboration with Antunovich Associates—has transformed the former site of Children’s Memorial Hospital into a vibrant, 1.1 million-square-foot mixed-use community. This LEED-Silver certified, master-planned development blends new construction with adaptive reuse across a six-acre site. It introduces new high-rise density to an otherwise low-rise neighborhood and features more than one acre of connected open spaces.
ULI’s Awards for Excellence program recognizes truly superior development efforts in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Winning projects represent the highest standards of achievement in the development industry—standards that ULI members deem worthy of attainment in their professional endeavors.
