On June 24th, 2019, SOM joined Citigroup CEO Mike Corbat and Chair of the Board of Directors John Dugan to celebrate the official opening of Citi’s new Town Square, a multistory atrium and amenity space at the company’s newly renovated global headquarters in downtown Manhattan. The event showcased new amenities throughout the space, including the Citi Art Gallery—featuring changing exhibitions.
The Town Square physically unites the two buildings that were renovated and connected to create Citi’s new global headquarters. As a central gathering place for Citigroup staff, it brings together amenities on the first and second floors, access to vertical transportation, and a multistory atrium. The Town Square supports one of the major goals of the new global headquarters: to create a unified workplace that encourages interaction, collaboration, and innovation.
