On Monday, April 8th, Structural Engineering Partner William F. Baker and Structural and Seismic Engineering Partner Mark Sarkisian will deliver a lecture, titled “Architecture Seen Through Structure” at Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso in Mexico City, Mexico. The event coincides with “SOM: Arte + Ingeniería + Arquitectura,” a traveling exhibition that explores SOM’s long history of structural engineering innovations and research ideas.
Informed by SOM’s 80-year history, Baker and Sarkisian will discuss the firm’s design philosophies, current projects, and emerging ideas within structural engineering. Global leaders in structural design, Baker and Sarkisian have realized some of the most complex projects in the built environment, including the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest man-made structure, and various collaborations with some of the world’s most renowned contemporary artists, such as Janet Echelman, Iñigo Manglano-Ovalle, and James Carpenter.
Open to the public, “SOM: Arte + Ingeniería + Arquitectura” is currently on display at the historic Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso from March 9th to June 9th, 2019.
