The St. Regis Museum Tower is located adjacent to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The carefully articulated massing accommodates luxury condominiums, a five-star hotel, and the Museum of the African Diaspora. The tapestry of the architectural precast concrete façade creates a rich surface that changes throughout the day.

The St. Regis Museum Tower is located at a prominent corner in the burgeoning Yerba Buena Arts District, adjacent to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The tower sensitively addresses the unique character and urban design conditions of its setting. It also incorporates solutions to specific site constraints, including integration of the historic Williams Building at the southwest corner of the site; vehicular access that contributes to an engaging and stimulating ground-level setting; and integration of the Museum of the African Diaspora at the base of the Mission Street façade.

The tower is set back from both Mission and Third streets, which allows podium elements to respond to the lower scale of nearby buildings along Mission Street and in Yerba Buena Center while opening views between taller buildings. The carefully articulated massing compliments the scale of its neighbors and the tapestry of the skin creates a rich surface that changes throughout the day.

An integrated structural solution allows the new tower to provide the Williams building with lateral stability, thus minimizing the impact of seismic retrofitting of the historic building. At the time of completion it was the tallest concrete structure in a Seismic Zone 4 area.
