Graham J. Wiseman

Graham Wiseman is the Managing Director for the London office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. He joined SOM in 1988 on the Canary Wharf team, was elected Associate in 1990, Associate Director in 1998, and Director in 2005. In addition to day-to-day project management responsibilities, Mr. Wiseman has an office-wide role, overseeing administrative function of the London office.

As a manager, Mr. Wiseman is responsible for leading multi-disciplinary design teams for architectural, structural engineering, and large scale urban design projects. He has extensive experience of the management of major urban design and building projects from conceptual studies through to implementation. Mr. Wiseman works closely with the Senior Designer and Technical Coordinator to ensure that the design process focuses on the set objectives and agreed deliverables. As such, he acts as the Client’s representative in the office. In addition, Mr. Wiseman organizes the management of individual design teams, making sure that information is correctly distributed; production schedules met; and cost plans matched.

From 1988 to 1995, Mr. Wiseman was a member of the engineering group on infrastructure and building projects. Since 1995, Mr. Wiseman has concentrated on the management of projects and has developed skills that enable him to act as a “bridge” between architecture and master planning. Mr. Wiseman’s training as a professional engineer enables him to convey a sense of rigour and process that counterbalances the creative process, allowing designers to concentrate on design.
